Christopher graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1989 where he studied Trumpet, and then completed his Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. He then completed his Diploma of Education at ACU while teaching at various schools in and around Melbourne.
Since then he has been busy working as a freelance musician and has performed with various groups including the Melbourne Fanfare Ensemble and the Australian Pops Orchestra. He has also played with various jazz ensembles and big bands including the Melbourne Jazz Orchestra and the Swingin.Com Big Band at venues like Manchester Lane and Dizzy’s Jazz Bar. In theatre shows and corporate events he has backed performers including Anthony Warlow, Marina Prior, Don Burrows, Stuart Wagstaff and David Campbell. Christopher also plays with the comedy roving group Latino Sombrero, sporting a fake moustache at such events as the Fosters Australian Grand Prix.
Christopher has been an invited clinician in trumpet and as a guest conductor at various levels including tutoring and directing ensembles at the University of Tasmania’s Summer School of Music. In 2005 he was awarded his Associate and Licentiate of Music with distinction from the AMEB. He is currently Head of Brass and Percussion Studies at Xavier College in Melbourne and continues to work actively as a musician in various fields and styles.
